Coasting all the way to Graduation – 6 things you need to know for your last semester of college

So 54 days from now I will be crossing the stage to receive my Bachelors of Science in Marketing and it is going to be one of the greatest day of my life. But before I get there I have one more quarter to go and I have no time to waste. Taking a full load, trying to stay involved, and somehow mentally preparing myself to be an adult in two months is tiring and Lord knows I can’t do it alone.

So to help me get my life together I came up with 6 things things you need to know for your last semester or quarter of college

1. Its ok let some people go

let it go

Growing up is a part of life and sometimes people don’t grow with you. We have to move on to other parts in our life and that may not include some people. And that is perfectly ok. I had to learn this the hard way several times but I think I have it figured out now. People in your life are like plants; some grow and flourish, some even wither and lose it greenness, and others just die. But you have to make a conscious effort to keep on moving or growing no matter who around you stays in one place or doesn’t grow with you. So stay green my friend

2. Somethings aren’t worth the stress

I  am the type of girl who is always down for being busy but BRUH I’m tired. Senior year takes a toll on you but in your last quarter its time to wind down. Let go of some organizations and start to pass the torch on to the next lucky cats. You have done all you can do, now its time for you to become a real life adult. Save those last few wrinkles for a 9 – 5 job.

3. Be open to new relationships

Yeah I know 54 days until you leave your beloved school, but you never know who you might run into and they just might end up being in your life forever. So far in this quarter alone I know I have made 2 life long friends just from my classes. Its crazy but God puts people in your path at anytime for any reason and  to quote Forest Gump “Life is like a box of chocolates; you never know what you’re going to get.” And we don’t have time for no hurt baes.

4. Adult life might not have the running start that you were expecting

sleep

Job hunting, actually taking care of yourself, and  living alone. Its a lot to take in but don’t freak out if you don’t have it all together. Yeah they say you are “supposed” to have a job before you graduate, but I promise, not many people do. You are not alone in this. Take some time for yourself. Travel, try new things, and just SLEEP! Trust you’ve earned. You have the rest of your life to work, so don’t rush.

5. Be UNAPOLOGETIC

beyonceYou have been here for 4 years now and now its time to go. When you first got to school, you were a dumb freshman, and now you are an awesome senior who’s ready to take on life. You’re about to start all over again but the main difference is that you’ve found yourself. You know who you are. You have experienced things that you liked and things that you didn’t like. And you have become yourself. And when you step foot into your new life, don’t loose or second guess yourself. You have come so far and learned so much, so continue to grow and watch your progress. Don’t apologize for who you are, and be bold about it.

6. Enjoy it the rest of undergrad!

This one pretty much explains it’s self . Have fun, but not too much, you still have to pass to actually graduate.

These are things that I hold close to my heart in these last few days at Louisiana Tech. Yeah, I know, some are hard to swallow but making it to graduation will be way easier with them. With 54 days to go and I might shed a tear or 2 but for the most part, I think that I am ready.

Until next time…

Sincerely,

Siana
